ZJ6SRKWH65AJ -The Sports Gaming Opportunity Act, H.R. 3796 is a bi-partisan Bill that would basically give States the freedom to operate online casinos, sports books and poker rooms. HR 3797 is a big deal because many States have recently approved and legalized online gambling. These States are powerless right now though. This is because even though they have passed online casino, poker and betting regulations they still have to worry about Federal laws against online gambling. HR 3797 was introduced back in January of 2025 and it is currently being studied by a committee. With the election over hopefully our leaders will release the results of their study. This Act has several other hurdles to jump before it will have an impact on the online gambling industry.

If those two things happen then the Sports Gaming Opportunity Act will be delivered to President Obama’s desk for signature. President Obama recently won the elect and will be serving his second term. This is when controversial laws have the best chances for approval because the President does not have to worry about getting reelected.
If this poker, sports betting and casino law makes it to President Obama’s desk there is a good chance that he will sign it. Loosening the online gambling restrictions in the USA will open up billions of dollars in revenue that currently go to Malta and other gambling havens.
This money is actually the bread and butter for many small island nations. I will be keeping an eye on HR3797. This Act could really pave the way for legal online betting, in all of its forms, on the Internet in 2013.
Many industry insiders expect online gambling to be legalized in the United States in 2013 and the recent election is a very good sign. It would have been better if Democrats had the majority in the House but the Senate and presidency is more then enough to push pro-freedom and economy-friendly bills like this one through.
If Romney would have been elected it would have been a huge blow to legalizing online poker, casino gambling and sports betting. he didn’t mind taking millions of the Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson but his Mormon religion would have forced him to veto any laws that legalized online gambling.
I have a feeling that this blog will be very busy in the coming months. Republicans will not be able to block every single Bill because they took a beating in the recent election. That was likely a wake-up call and they should now realize that obstructionism is not going to help them during the 2014 elections.
